Die Cast Diaries

Hello WA family, friends and followers,

Welcome to another chapter of Die Cast Diaries.  I am giving you another peek behind the curtain of the customizing world of Hot Wheels. This customizer is one of my all time favorites, and one of the most talented I’ve seen out there. His customs are so cool and unique. He uses all different types of castings for his customs. He turns a lot of them into the coolest looking hot rods in 1/64 scale. I’d like to introduce you to Ronny Xavier Sugiarta.

Me: What is your name and where are you from?

Ronny: My name is Ronny Xavier Sugiarta and I am from West Java, Indonesia.

Me: How old were you when you first started playing with Hot Wheels or any other diecast cars or trucks?

Ronny: I started playing and collecting Hot Wheels since 2007. I am 33 years old.

Me: When did you start customizing Hot Wheels?

Ronny: I began customizing in 2010.

Me: Why did you get into customizing Hot Wheels and what is your specialty?

Ronny: I started customizing because I love to make them look different. My specialty is making them look like hot rods.

Me: How did you get involved with Hot Wheels and customizing them?

Ronny: I love trying to make them look different in my own creative way.

Me: Who were you influenced by once you started customizing?

Ronny: Chojiro/HellsDept Japan

Me: Is customizing Hot Wheels a hobby or a full time job for you?

Ronny: It is both a hobby and a full time job.

Me: If it’s a full time job, do you own a business for customizing? If so, what is the name of your customizing business? If it’s a hobby, do you make customs for or as a second income?

Ronny: My business name is Auto Celtic. I make customs for money all the time.

Me: Finally, what are your top 5 Hot Wheels of all time?

Ronny: Bone Shaker, Nissan Titan, Custom 62 Chevy, Dairy Delivery and Tooned Series.

For your viewing pleasure, here are some of the incredible customs Ronny has made. I own probably 30 or so of his incredible customs.
